The US was a wholly solly superpower (along with USSR if you remember history) once upon a time, but of late it has seen its economy facing several problems. Still the US dollar effects national economies of other nations as well. So when the US dollar sold at 30 pesos in Uruguay it was really an emergency situation, but the government did take steps and measures and current it stands at near 2/3 of that rate
