Uruguay heads for 5th straight year of economic growth

After the disastrous economic crisis in 2002, Uruguay has completely turned its economy around, registering the fourth straight year of growth. Last year the economy expanded by 7% and the coming year's forecast is at least 4.5%, says the economy minister.

Character homes go up in Montivideo's old city center

Here there are no high rise apartment blocks, no casinos, and no nightclubs, but the neat, quiet town of of Jose Ignacio boasts a couple of supermarkets, two Internet cafés, a clinic, and is a regular vacation destination for some discriminating travelers.
