Nonetheless, the government is worried about this massive land acquisition by foreigners and is actually pushing a law that will eventually ban the ownership of foreign land along the borders.

Uruguay's left-leaning coalition leads surveys

According to a recent survey, the country's left-leaning ruling coalition is still the most favored by the citizens today. 58.9 percent of the total respondents said that they will vote Progressive Encounter - Broad Front (PE-BF) in the next elections. Brazil lends electricity to Uruguay

Due to the large demand for electricity now that the Southern Hemisphere is in its winter season, Brazil vowed to give Uruguay more than 70 megawatts of hydroelectric electricity to augment the supply. In return, Uruguay promises to return this electricity when the demand for electricity subsides. Brazil has been doing this for for winters already free of charge.

The Rising Dwarf
