Due to the large demand for electricity now that the Southern Hemisphere is in its winter season, Brazil vowed to give Uruguay more than 70 megawatts of hydroelectric electricity to augment the supply. In return, Uruguay promises to return this electricity when the demand for electricity subsides. Brazil has been doing this for for winters already free of charge.
