Mandy Tejera, 46, of Montevideo, and Cecilia Rodriguez-Santana, 28, of Salto, are in Cincinnati as part of the teacher exchange program. The program is sponsored by sponsored by Northern Kentucky University and a U.S. Department of Education to strengthen school districts. This month MIT's One Laptop Per Child project is finally coming to Uruguay. In February the project is rolling out about 2500 of its $150 laptops to eight countries. The 10th International Pedagogue 2007 conference was in Havana the week of February 2. Elisa Figueredo, a Uruguayan teacher, told Prensa Latina how sad she was because she feels the government doesn't value education as she does.
